Dr. Kristin Tigani-Taylor on Her Father’s Legacy

This week on Vivos Voices, we visited with Dr. Kristin Tigani-Taylor, an outstanding dentist and passionate Vivos Integrated Provider (VIP).

Dentistry is in Dr. Kristin Tigani-Taylor’s blood. Her father started their family practice about 46 years ago. Since his passing in 2019, she has carried on the family legacy while focusing more on the airway. “I used to hear him snore all the time when I was younger,” she shared. “And then I learned a little bit more about airway, but he wouldn’t get in the chair to do a mandibular advancement device cause he lost weight. So, he was better until he had a massive heart attack. And it turns out he had undiagnosed and untreated sleep apnea.”

Her father’s passing led her to research sleep apnea further. She was determined to find the root cause and a viable solution so that none of her patients, family, and friends would have to suffer in the same way that her father did. “When I found out there was a way to actually treat the root cause of sleep apnea, it was definitely something that I was passionate about,” she shared. “I was the first patient I treated. And I found out I had moderate sleep apnea. I used to be exhausted all the time. I mean all the time. I remember being seven years old and not being able to get off the couch, and everybody told me I was lazy. And I just have been exhausted my whole life. [With Vivos], I’m awake for the first time in my whole life.”

“I’m definitely a belts-and-suspenders type of person,” shared Dr. Tigani-Taylor. “I need to know what I’m doing, and if I don’t know what I’m doing, I need to know who to call. And that is amazing with Vivos. It is. You are never stranded.” What our VIPs love most about Vivos is the support system. Changing the landscape of dentistry takes a team, and we’re committed to helping you succeed. Our providers have access to a network of specialists, tools, and resources to educate and treat your patients.

“[If] any dentist is considering joining Vivos, bringing that into their practice, treating airway, you have to,” said Dr. Tigani-Taylor. “This is the future of dentistry. We are poised at the precipice where we are the people that can help these patients. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done in my personal life and in my practice.”

Um, my name is Dr. Kristin Tigani-Taylor. Um, my office is based in Wilmington, Delaware. Um, it’s Tigani Family Dentistry. My father started the practice about 46 years ago, um, and that’s actually how I got into Vivos. He passed away in January of 2019. I used to hear him snore all the time when I was younger, and we thought it was funny and then, you know, would make fun of him with it. And then learned a little bit more about airway, but he wouldn’t get in the chair to do, you know, a mandibular advancement device cause he lost weight, so he was better until he had a massive heart attack. And it turns out he had undiagnosed and untreated sleep apnea. And when I found out there was a way to actually treat the root cause of sleep apnea, it was definitely something that I was passionate about. Um, well, I actually have a very personal success story with this. I was the first patient I treated. And I was, I found out I had moderate sleep apnea, my AHI was 23. I used to be exhausted all the time. I mean all the time. I remember being seven years old and not being able to get off, off the couch, and everybody told me I was lazy. And, I just have been exhausted my whole life. I’ve never wanted to go to parties. I, you know, people would have to drag me out, and now I just, I’m able to stay out and have fun because I’ve slept. And I have fun, and I, I’m awake for the first time in my whole life. The clinical support and support in general with Vivos is kind of the reason I felt comfortable doing this. I, I’m a definitely a belts and suspenders type of person. I need to know what I’m doing, and if I don’t know what I’m doing, I need to know who to call. And that is amazing with Vivos. It is, you are never stranded. [If] any dentist is considering joining Vivos, bringing that into their practice, treating airway, you have to. This is the future of dentistry. We are poised at the precipice where we are the people that can help these patients. So it’s something that when I was thinking about joining, I was, you know, wavering back and forth. Can I do this? Can I implement this? And that was over two years ago, and I have never looked back. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done in my personal life and in my practice.
