Dr. Jyothi on Seeing the Bigger Picture in Healthcare
This week on Vivos Voices, we visited with Dr. Jyothi Kudasomannavar, a general dentist, and trained Vivos Integrated Provider (VIP).
“As dentists, we have the unique opportunity to be the first ones in recognizing the signs.” In addition to proper training, you have support every step of the way. From access to mentors and top sleep and airway professionals, you are never alone. And once you learn how to best communicate the connection between sleep and airway, patients will naturally get onboard.
“From the minute I start showing them the signs and explain [to] them how it’s related to their symptoms, they get it.”
The goal is to change the way that providers view healthcare. Rather than seeing it as separate puzzle pieces, it needs to become about the bigger picture. Collaboration is key to a better tomorrow for patients and providers. “I think Vivos has been the best thing for me as a provider, as a mother, as a wife. And it’s changed the way I practice dentistry and look at health overall.”
Hi, I’m Dr. Jyothi, and I’m a general dentist. I have a practice in Parker, Colorado, and also I’m a Vivos provider. As dentists, we have the unique opportunity to be the first ones in recognizing the signs. Some very common issues that people experience with sleep and airway issues is, uh, it could be something very mild, uh, like a morning headache or TMJ issues or changes in their breathing and heart rate. Uh, severe cases, they could also, um, impair their brain functions, heart functions. It also affects their mental and emotional ability. From the minute I, uh, start showing them the signs and explain them how it’s related to their symptoms, uh, they, they get it. They’re like, ‘oh, that’s my dad, that’s my son, that’s my mom,’ and, uh, they can totally connect the dot. My staff was on board from day one. They, they started with them being in treatment themselves and their families and their kids, and they are, um, there to, you know, help any patient explain, explain to them, and encourage them, and they’re very excited to see the results, and that’s been very rewarding as a team. I think, uh, Vivos has been the best thing for me as a provider, as a mother, as a wife, and, uh, uh, it’s changed the way I practice dentistry and, uh, looking at health overall because we never knew how important, uh, something simple, as simple as sleep and breathing is.
